Squadron Cadet Competition

At Shelbyville Composite Squadron we have put together a new Cadet Competition that has began this past October between the cadets. All new cadets are competing to see who can reach C/SrA first and current cadets (C/Amn and above) are competing for C/TSgt. We also started a Drill Down competition and our first weeks winner was C/Amn Philip Northam our second weeks winner was C/A1C Russ Northam. The overall winner for the Drill Down competition will be announced later this month after a total of three drill downs have been completed - good luck to all cadets! Winners of each contest will win a drink of their choice from the Armory’s Coke machine courtesy of Capt. Reynolds.

“The Award”

The current cadet competition going on at Shelbyville Composite Squadron will be one facet of a larger 12-month long cadet competition. This cadet competition will be the largest cadet competition running at Shelbyville Composite Squadron. The competition will be based on a point system and the two cadets with the most number of points at the end of the 12-month term will each win “The Award”. More details will follow for all cadets at the November 30th squadron meeting where Capt. Reynolds will reveal the details of this competition. The 12-month competition documentation will be posted on our squadron website for other units to review for their own morale building competitions.

October Practice SAR

There was no October practice SAR. As of the end of October we have had no official word on our next practice SAR. We’ll let you know when we know.

* Notice to Cadets *

Several of you have only a few things left to do in order to meet your next promotion. We would like to see all cadets to their best to test this month and finish up any requirements that you need to make your next promotion. Special Activities application process is just around the corner and any extra stripes you can earn between now and then will only help your chances of being selected. Also keep in mind that if you have participated in an encampment before you are eligible to apply for staff at the next encampment activity. Word is that there will be a Spring Type B encampment and the Type A at Camp Atterbury this summer is July 14th-21st. Some of the cadet airman should consider applying for Flight Sergeant at the encampment. If you have questions or need assistance talk with your Cadet Commander, C/1st Lt. Waggoner and the Deputy Commander for Cadets, Capt. Reynolds.
