Squadron Open House – December 19th!

Come join us for our squadron open house on our last meeting of the millennium! We will be starting our meeting at its normal time at 6:30 pm Sunday evening. We will have a short meeting to leave room for cookies and punch and some featured events. We will be presenting a few Mitchell Awards and some Eaker Awards. We will also be having a Squadron Command Change Ceremony. So stop by to see who the new Squadron Commander is going to be!

Meeting Date and Time Change!

Starting in January we will be switching our meeting dates from Sunday evenings to Thursday evenings. Currently this means our January meetings will occur on the 6th, 13th, 20th, and 27th of the month at 6:45pm. See you there!

Want to be a Ground Team member?

Then be here on January 27th for some practical exercises in Emergency Services to assist you in your training to become a Ground Team member. Current Ground Team members will want to be on hand to assist with the training and to practice and improve their skills.

Incident Command System Course

If you haven’t signed up to take the FEMA ICS course then see 1LT Reynolds at the squadron meeting to ask for a form or visit http://www.fema.gov/EMI/enroll.htm to enroll. We will be working together once a month on the ICS course in case there are questions or need for discussion over the course material.

A SCS Ground Team Christmas  by Kris Copes

"We got in the van, and cranked the heat up, we said our prayers, and hoped for good luck.
After some time, we hear a strange signal, coming from the ELPER, sounding like "Jingle Bells."
We went in on foot, the signal got greater, the wind got colder, the time grew later.
Then in a glance, we saw our target, a little red sleigh, all broken and bent.
There were eight tiny reindeer, all needing quick care. And an older gentleman saying, "That plane came out of nowhere!"
He had a long white beard, and a red flight suit, and a large red sack, loaded with loot.
We fixed up his wounds, and hitched up the van, to those eight reindeer, 'cause we had a plan.
We'll help deliver those toys, Assist old Mr. Clause. He said the reindeer's names, and we were off with no pause.
As we headed into the sky, he lifted his torch. And said, "If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the porch!"
