STRUCTURE OF THE JROTC PROGRAM

The organized group of JROTC cadets constitutes a unit. It is structured very much like a traditional Army battalion, with cadets filling the positions of every rank. Rank is earned, not automatic, which supports the goal of helping students develop self esteem.
"Leadership Education and Training", or LET, is the term used for the different levels of the program.

LET 4 cadets are normally seniors and fill key positions (for example, Battalion Commander, Battalion Executive Officer, Primary staff officers and company commanders)

LET 3 cadets are normally juniors and serve as assistants to principal staff officers.

LET 2 cadets are normally sophomores and fill mid-level NCO positions

LET 1's make up the junior cadets of the unit.
