384TH. SERVICE SQUADRON

The 384th. Service Squadron was activated on 29 October, 1942 at Jefferson Barracks, Missouri and soon there after were transfered to Lockbourne Army Air Base (now Rickenbacker AFB).

After months of training and hands-on experience, the Group was moved to Fort Dix, NJ in preparation for the nine day trip across the Atlantic to England.

On 17 August, 1943 they disembarked at Liverpool and were quickly moved to the King's Cliffe area to set up the base for the arrival of the 20th. FG.

Their duties were wide and varied, from the repair of aircraft to the handling of many of the supplies for the entire base, but their main function was performing 2nd. and 3rd. echelon maintenance.

Air Corps Supply was maintained by the service squadron personnel.
