This model of "Happy Jack's Go Buggy" was created by Peter Ibes, a IPMS member from The Netherlands. He created it from a 1/72nd. scale Revell kit after viewing the Fighter Collection's recreation of Col. Ilfrey's mount.
Col. Jack Ilfrey was the special guest at the Alamo Squadron of the IPMS, in San Antonio, Texas in January of this year. While there he was presented with this model of "Happy Jack's Go Buggy", created by Jeff Aberthal. (Photographs by: Joe Bianco)

Note this model has no nose guns.
There is a model of a 20th.FG P-51 currently being produced by Hasegawa Hobby Kits (see image at left.) I believe the aircraft portrayed is P-51D USAAF SN# 44-72160, Code KI-K, flown by Charles H. "Tink" Cole, Jr.(?)in the 55th.FS. According to the information provided it is catalog number HSGJT138 and is available for around $20.00, the model is 1/48th. scale and is injection molded. The decals provided give you many choices as to which aircraft you would like to recreate, one option being "Little Lady," as shown. I would appreciate any news on this and will keep you all updated on what I find out. Is this the same A/C photographed in the The 20th.FG Scrapbbok?, which was also the subject of Micheal Hecht's artwork.
HANDCRAFTED WOODEN MODELS OF THE P-38 Choices include one from the 55th.FS and a wrongly painted "Happy Jack's Go Buggy".
Another Hasegawa P-38 model, this one painted in the colors of the 77th.FS, 20th.FG
David Copley's Xp-38N, a virtual P-38 that he designed and is currently attempting to fly around the world in real time using Microsoft Flight 98.
A carved wooden model of Ed Wasil's "Mama's Boy" that I found for sale on E-Bay.
David Knight has brought to my attention that Aeromaster, one of the top model decal companies, has several decal sets featuring 20th.FG aircraft. This includes 48-289 (P-38s of the 20th.FG) Which has decals for Scrutchfield's "Jeanne", "California Cutie", "Happy Jack's Go Buggy", "Bobcat II", and Art Heiden's "Lucky Lady". Sheet number 48-072 (Aces of the 8th.AF II)features "Miss Miami", the mount of Ernest Fibelkorn, and 48-309 (P-51s of the 20th.), which features "Glen, Gary, Guy", "Nina Merle II" and "Miss Miami"(shown at left). To find further information on these go to Aeromaster's Home Page. Note that these are for 1/48th. scale models only.
