The community historical information below is obtained by LINKS to the Encyclopedia of Newfoundland and Labrador.
I was born on a little island in Bonavista Bay, Newfoundland called St. Brendan's. In the early sixties, the Newfoundland government sponsored a resettlement program and the inhabitants from all the neighbouring islands were moved to the mainland. The people of St. Brendan's refused to move, and even today they still enjoy life in the peaceful community. The main industry at that time was fishing. I still remember seeing the sailing ships in the harbour as the fishermen prepared to go to Labrador. This is probably what spawned my interest in tall ships and lighthouses.
Anne, my wife, was born in Fleur De Lys, a community in White Bay, Newfoundland. Fleur De Lys has a fine harbour and was a stop-over haven for ships sailing to Labrador. If you want to know more about the history of Fleur De Lys, please check out the following links. (New Fleur De Lys Home Page. You will be leaving this site, however there is a link to bring you back here.)
This site went public on 09/12/98 13:07:34, and although I have taken down the "under construction" sign, it will always be subject to updates and changes.
