At It Again | A Good Day |
On The Road |
Last week I had the opportunity to drive from Killeen, Texas to Las Vegas, Nevada. Having just retired from the U.S. Army after 20 years, it was time to move on. It will be the first time in twenty years that I've moved, and not headed for Ft. Somewhere. This time it finally was Ft. Living Room that I was headed for. And quite honestly I was looking forward to it.
On a similar note how familiar is the Chandra Levy and U.S. Rep. Gary A. Condit episode? Surely he must know that the longer he waits to speak up about whatever relationship he had with Chandra Levy the worse it will be. It's a shame, if he knows anything how he can put the family through this. It's time to be accountable. And time for the public to make him accountable for his actions.
At It Again |
Well it's started again. Reading through the Washington Post I came across an article on how the Democrats are planning to attack the Bush administrations ethics. It seems that after 8 years of the Republicans beating up the Clinton administration, it's time for the Democrats to turn the tables.
When will they learn that the public is tired of these kinds of witch hunts? A waste of money and time.

It Will Be A Good Day |
Saturday 9 June 2001
Just a personal note. Come this Monday it will be a good day in America. How many people will feel good about what is going to take place in Terre Haute, Indiana on Monday? My guess is there will be a lot. Why? Because on Monday Timothy McVeigh will be executed.
My feelings are that anyone that can even think about let alone commit the act that he did doesn't deserve to live. Cowardly is what comes to mind. What freedoms do we not have that would excuse or put in our minds that murdering 168 people could ever justify?
Some out there might say we are no better for wanting him dead and gone, but as long as he is alive there can be no peace for the family and friends of those who's lives he took.
Sure there are things wrong in our country and not everything goes how we want it, but I can never believe that killing innocent people is the answer. What "war" was he waging and for who? Certainly not me. I don't want someone that kills children, then calls it "collateral damage" to try and justify his actions doing anything for me. That is a sickening thought.
On Monday it will be a good day.
What is it about Newsgroups? |
Now that I'm getting closer to retirement I decided to give some newsgroups a try. I started out by searching for Army and/or Military groups. You know "retirement" one's! My thinking was that with all the veterans we have in our country I'm sure that any questions I have there will be someone out there that had been there, done that.
So off I went to discover the world of newsgroups. And what I found was just unbelievable! A world where you have to have a thick skin, sense of humor, and a quick wit. A cool and unusual or a unusually cool signature is purely optional but seems to be the norm. Most find an obscure quote from someone nobody has every heard of or something as main stream as a line from the Simpsons might do the trick. But whatever you choose the most important thing is that it will be unique to you and your postings.
Be sure to take the time to read the "frequently asked questions" (faq) for Usenet. This is where you can read about all the do's and don'ts while partaking in newsgroups. And this is not to be taken lightly! Why I've seen threads (discussions) last for days on why someone shouldn't have posted something or said something that to the casual observer would elicit a "so what?", but to a veteran of newsgroups it's just not right and something should be done about! And be forewarned the penalty can be harsh.
With all of that what you will find is folks passionate about their interests and hobbies. `
