I have collected some of these over the years, and am only placing the ones that are either my own, or author unknown so as to not step on anyones copywritten rights.  If you see any that you know the author of, please let me know so I can either give them credit or remove it from my pages, as per their wishes.  If you have any you would like to add, Please forward them on!

Sometimes we wonder if there's something wrong with us, or is it our Fuzzy Friend?  There are lots of places on the web you can go to for information about your Fuzzies, as far as we go, hmmmm, sometimes its just a personality glitch or we don't have the right pet for our lifestyle.  Research the different critters you think you're interested in before you go out there and bring it home!  Our shelters and rescue groups are working on overtime to save the 'disposable animal' that you decided you no longer want.
Try these links to learn about certain breeds to decide which one fits in with your family's lifesytle.
The AKC -
American Kennel Club, has a listing of all the 'purebreds' that you see in those shows.  Read a little about the various breeds before you decide.  I would steer away from the latest trend of 'designer pets' as sometimes the different personalities and health issues that are combined don't 'mesh'. You can also take an online survey to see which dog may be right for you.
Also, please remember to spay and neuter your pet to cut down on those unwanted critters that are left to fend for themselves and or are neglected.  They usually end up dying a slow death on the streets never knowing love and kindness, or they end up in a kill shelter euthanized with the only moment of kindness being held by the overworked staff worker who has held and talked and looked into the eyes of one too many critters, trying to give them that last moment of dignity they never recieved before.  Below are some links to places to find information before you take the leap.  Also you might consider adopting from a rescue group or shelter.  You can find groups for many different breeds through
All Breeds Rescue or try the AKC, they list rescues for their breeds also.  Sometimes its easier to go with an older critter unless you are sure you have the time, and I mean LOTS of time, to devote to a youngster and training them! Below are some places you can look to find dogs that are in shelters.  You might find that special one staring at you in an area near to home!
We will start out with some fun things now that you can share or do with your pet!  If you have a very active pet, you may want to consider agility or flyball competitions.  Not only does your pet get excersize and work off some of that energy, but you do it together, enhancing the bonding, and you get some excersize out of it too!  You don't have to join any clubs tho, you can do it yourself at home in your own back yard!  You can make your own course from simple things you may have around, or check one of the many sites for the how to's or nearby training centers.  Flyball has different principals but can be just as rewarding.  Some areas have local dog parks that cater to your needs, but I recommend that your dog be very socialized and friendly to avoid any 'disagreements'.

Here's a few links to some funstuff you can find or do on the web!

Free Pet Rescue sticker to alert people that pets are inside in the event of an emergency

Free ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center Magnet to place on your fridge in case of ingestion of the wrong things

Dogster - 'For the Love of a Dog' --Make your dog his or her own page and join with other dogs of similar likes or breeds!  You can include pictures, likes/dislikes, even your pet's own diary!

Petlovers is a forum for everyone to get together and share and talk about your pet!

Animal Planet has a kids area to participate in all sorts of info and some games for those 'pet challenged' (don't have a pet to play with)

Even
Seaworld-Busch Gardens has a site to a fun zone for you!
There are so many unwanted pets filling our shelters each year that never have a chance to live out  their golden years in the respect they sooo deserve!  Please think twice when getting your pet to make sure you have the time to care and work with them, and consider spay or nueter programs to keep it from becoming another statistic of today's 'disposable' pets!
There is also access to many informative sites with information to help you take better care of your 'fuzzy' family member.  A few are listed below:
The Vet Clinic not only has info on health issues but behavioral issues too!
MarVista Animal Medical Center has information about medications, vaccinations, and other health issues.
The Pet Place has a wealth of information from behavior to Veterinarian approved articles and stories from other owners.
The Better Dog Network and Humane Society has pet owners guides, health articles, adoption links, and much more!
The ASPCA also has information on poison control, behavior modification, wellness as well as adoption
The Magic Bullet Fund is a site set up to help those of us who have cancer victims servive by providing hope and support and help with some funding.
