TACO BELL'S pequeno pitchdog a grande hit with fans. Those eyes,
so big and bulging. That stride, a swaggering strut on teensy legs. That voice, suacy yet determined. No wonder the Taco Bell Chihuahua is one hot dog.
Although hardly bigger than a combo burrito, the star of Taco Bell's current as campaign has attitude to burn, whether sinking basketballs, climbing fire escapes or cockily demanding, "Yo quiero Taco Bell."
"It's really touched a chord with our consumers," says Laurie Gannon, spokewoman for the Irvine, Calif-based Taco Bell."We are being flooded with calls from people saying 'I love the commercials,I have a Chihuahua that looks like that, I need T-shirts with the Chicuahua.'" "We've recieved resumes via the Internet for people's dogs to have them star in our commericals. We've had requests for the dog from 'Entertainment Tonight,' 'Access Hollywood,' 'Live With Regis and Kathie Lee' and the Discovery Channel." So who is this canine answer to Leonardo DiCaprio?
"Actually, there are four different dogs that we use mostly," Gannon reveals. The principal dog has a double, as does the tremulos female Chihuahua our hero spurns in his quest for tacos.
A DOG OWNERS PRAYER
O Lord don't let me once forget
How I love my trusty pet---
Help me learn to disregard
canine craters in my yard,
Show me how to be a buddy
even when my sofa's muddy,
Don't allow my pooch to munch
postal carriers for lunch,
Shield my neighbor's cat from view'
guide my steps around the doo,
Train me not to curse and scowl
when it's puppy's night to howl.
Grant I shan't awake in fear
with a cold nose in my ear'Give me patience without end---
help me be "A Dog Best Friend"!

Hunt
by kevin e. friedl (age 12)
Running smoothly like the ocean,
Feet thundering against the earth.
Easily breaking the laws of motion,
He is definately high in worth.
Ever ready for a run,
Sprinting faster than a bullet from a gun.
Chasing rabbit, deer, and fowl,
Watch them flee before his howl.
When the hunted creature's dead,
He retires to his bed.
Falling into a deep sleep,
He hardly even makes a peep.
