How can your heart not melt at the sight of a beagle with it's nose between it's paws! Our dog Taylor is a "rescue" from the University of California at Davis animal research facility. Our daughter sat for two hours in a cage with ten cowering dogs until Taylor decided she wanted love more than the security of the pack. After our daughter brought her home, she "lived" behind the couch for almost three months before venturing out. When she walked on concrete for the first time, her paws bled, as she had been in a cage for all of her almost two years. It was really sad, ut fortunately, our other beagle "Tank" (who has since passed away) taught her to be a dog instead of a lab rat. Taylor is now a happy 8 year old beagle who loves to beg for food (as any self respecting beagle would) and get loves from the family. She is still skittish around strangers (or even the family if we have sunglasses or hats on), but has come a long way t rough love and patience. Keep up the good work. This is a lovely site!
