Sammy's Stomach of Steel
On Grant's 10th birthday, we got him a big chocolate cake. We forgot something at the store and had to go out for a minute. So we figured if we just put the cake far back on the counter, she couldn't get it, right? Wrong! We got back from the store no more than 15 minutes later, and she had devoured almost the whole cake! And what's even more amazing is it didn't seem to bother her a bit. What a dog! What a stomach!
Sammy's Stomach of Steel Part II
And then there was one the M&M incident. So we had a big bowl of M&Ms on the dining room table. We took special care to make sure every chair was pushed all the way in so she couldn't get up there and get to them. It seemed like a good plan at the time. But you can guess what happened! We got home and every single M&M was gone! Once again, it didn't seem to bother her a bit.(We did, however, put her outside for a while, and she wasn't too pleased about that)
Sammy runs into a truck
No, not Sammy gets hit by a truck, Sammy runs into a truck. Anyway, so Sammy gets out and starts running away. I happen to be in my car at the time, so I start going after her. She sees me going after her, and for some reason she just can't keep her eyes off me. We get to the intersection, and, naturally, I stop. And Sam, being stupid and all, doesn't. So there's this truck on the other street, and she's busy looking at me, so BOOM- she runs right into it. Ouch. She went directly home from that. She didn't need any encouraging. We took her to the vet, and he didn't believe us. For one thing, it was just too stupid. Also, she managed to escape with only a little scrape on the side of her head. This is one tough canine.
Sammy's Stomach of Steel Part III
Yes, this dog really should be dead by now. But believe me, we're all glad she's not. So this one time we get some lasagne from Valentino's (for those of you who don't know, that's a really cool pizza restaurant here in Nebraska) and silly us, we once again think we can safely leave food sitting out of reach and she won't get it. I think you know what's coming here! That dog looked so pregnant you wouldn't believe it! She stayed that way for about 2 days. And you know what? It still didn't seem to bother her. Super dog!! And, of course, the vet didn't believe us when we told him. Like I said, she should be dead by now. Don't you wish you could eat a whole pan of lasagne and feel fine?

Sammy loves to chase flies! She chases them all over the house snapping her jaws at them, and climbing all over furniture to get to them, but she very rarely catches them.
Occasionally, Sammy will curl up in a little ball to eat something. But sometimes her tail gets in the way, so she just starts chewing on it. She's always really surprised when she bites her own tail!

Did you know....
