"And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." - 1 Corinthians 13:13, NIV

BELOVED - by KDV2911

Clay inspected the roses in his hands carefully, making sure that each bloom was a perfect specimen. They had to be; he was giving them to the one woman he loved above all others.

Like no other, this woman had walked beside him in everything. She had rejoiced with him in every triumph, she had cried with him in every hardship. She had accepted him for who he was while at the same time always pushed him to be more, to be the kind of man God wanted him to be. Her love and her faith had been a model to him, a model on which to build his own. And now, on this Valentine's Day, Clay was going to proclaim his deepest love for her.

He cautiously opened her door, seeking to catch but a glimpse of her beautiful face. Of course she was beautiful - from the moment she set eyes on him she had loved him. Creeping through the room, he tiptoed over to where she stood. She turned, and Clay beamed brightly to see the love in her eyes once more. In answer to the unspoken question in her eyes, he placed the flowers in her hands, took her in his arms, and placed a gentle kiss on her forehead.

"Hi, Mom."
