A rare, centuries-old, native breed from Thailand that was first imported from its homeland to the USA in 1959 and recognised there in 1966. Britain's first Korats came from America in 1972. To keep the breed pure, no cross breeding is permitted.
Korats have unusually highly developed senses and do not like sudden, loud noises but they are themselves rather talkative.
Korat means "good fortune"
