  • Kittens have milk teeth. They lose their milk teeth, just like we do.
  • If a cat is scared, its fur stands on end. This will make the cat look bigger and tougher.
  • Cats have a third eyelid.
  • Its not unusual for a cat to have an extra toe. One breed of cat can have up to 7 toes on one paw.
  •  In the middle ages, short-haired black cats were though to be unlucky. If the black cats had green eyes it made people even more superstitious.
  • A cat can use its whiskers to find out whether it can go through a space. Its whiskers are the same width as its body.
  • One of the heaviest cats ever was called Poppa. He weighed 44.5 lbs.
  • Most cats despise water. The Turkish Van enjoys paddling in water. Some people call it the swimming cat.
  • Cats have an excellent sense of balance. A cat can right itself in mid-air. Then they land on all fours.
  • A mother cat carries her kittens by holding them in her mouth. The kittens are held by the scruff of their necks.
  •  It seems very common for cats to eat grass.
  •  Even cats can get flu.
  •  In ancient Egypt, when a pet cat died, the whole household would go into mourning. They would shave off their eyebrows.
    •  You can tell a cat's mood by its ears. A happy cat has upright ears.
    •  Cats have rough rubbery, sand papery tongues. They use them to clean themselves with.
    •  Cat burglars get their name from their ability, stealth and cunning of a cat.
    •  Cats often play with their prey before killing it. The game is more fun (for the cat) if the poor creature struggles between attacks.
    •  Cats learn how to hunt by watching what other cats do and by trying it out for themselves. If a kitten has a non-hunting mother, then the chances are that it won't be destined for a life of mousing.
