NAME OF ANIMAL

  • Wolves living in the Arctic parts of North America and Eurasia often have a white coat. This cunning disguise helps them to hunt against a snowy background without being seen by their prey.
  • A wolf can jump as far as 4.5m (15ft). It can also leap upwards, backwards and sideways.
  • Before a hunt, all the wolves in the pack have a good howling session, to show they are ready for 'the off'. One of them starts and the rest gradually join in.
  • Wolves mostly hunt large hoofed animals such as moose, caribou and musk oxen. They run down their prey together in a team effort.
  • Wolves won't attack humans unless they are provoked.
