The Chihuahua Page

The Chihuahua comes to us from Mexico as everyone knows. It is dated back as far as the Toltec period. There is a Monastery between Mexico and Puebla that has carvings of the Chihuahua and this monastery was built in 1530ad.A lot of people think the Mexican Hairless is related to the Chihuahua but their not.They differ quite a lot.

The Chihuahua is the smallest of the toy breeds, and they are said to be the longest living breed. I have heard of one living 18 years and another living 19 years.

They are very loving and affectionate but can be rather fisty at times. They give so much of themselves for so little in return.I know from experience that if you ever raise one they will never forget you even if you part with them to a new owner.

THE CHIHUAHUA comes in a variety of colors to suit anyones taste.It also has been said that the Chihuahua gets along well with members of its own breed, and doesn't fare well with other breeds. In my opinion I find this not to be true.
