Eeek, has it been a whole month since the last update? Well, things should start progressing more quickly now. The well agreement we were anticipating being wrapped up May 21st was not agreed to by all parties until the first week in June. As a result, our builder did not close on the lot until June 5th. That week, they began clearing trees. Unfortunately, Mother Nature did not cooperate. We got heavy rains every couple of days. This made for slow going for the tree trimmers. They only got to work every 2nd to 3rd day, and when they did venture out on the lot, they spent more time trying to free their equipment from the mud than clearing trees. What was projected to be a three day job took two weeks, including weekends.
Once the lot was clear enough, the excavation company began working on our septic system. The drain feild is located on the very back of our lot, a football field away from the tank. Preparing the drainfield and setting the tanks took two days. Then, once the tree trimmers were done, they dug our foundation and removed all the stumps. Amazingly, they did that in one day. Next week, we anticipate them pouring the footings, building the forms for our basement, and then pouring the basement walls. Then, the framing can begin. Due to the delay in getting the agreement signed and the extra time it took to clear the lot, our projected move in date is now October 17th.
