Welcome

"Rosie's Rag"

Hi, I'm Rosie and this is my mom's story about ME!

*****************************************************************

Now, for Rosenblatt! Our beautiful Golden Lab. Rosie, started out as Dallas. That was his name when he was left with us to babysit until the lady that owned him moved back to Arizona.

She had moved out to California to be with some guy who, when she showed up, decided he didn't want her. Anyway, she didn't have the money to move back so was going to work for awhile and stay with relatives or friends until she had the cash to take her 10 year old daughter and go home.

But no one she could stay with, wanted to have her dog. Or they lived in an apartment and could not let him stay. So, she was asking around to see if anyone knew anyone who would keep him for a week or so. She had met up with the son of a friend of mine and asked him if he knew anyone. So, Dallas stayed with Rusty's mother for a few days, but then she wanted the dog gone.

Rusty then came to the biggest sucker for animals that he knew. I told him NO at first, that I didn't even want to see him, but he said the dog would have to go to the pound if I couldn't keep him and that it would be for no more than a week. They also told me that they would come over every day or so to visit him so he wouldn't forget who owned him. I said OK.

Well, they came to see Dallas one time in the first week and I asked if they had found some one else to keep him. They said they could take him to her cousin's. I had already told my husband that they were coming to pick him up, so when I wasn't really thrilled with the conditions where he was going, I still let them take him to her relative.

It was raining really hard that night and I knew most people wouldn't keep that big dog in side, so I paged Rusty and inquired again about his arrangements. Rusty said Dallas was outside. I asked if he had any cover, a patio or something. When Rusty said, no and that the people weren't even going to see the dog and that he was going to HAVE to go over every day to feed him, I told him to bring the dog back to me. When Dallas got back, he was wet to the skin. I was mad!

Then I didn't even hear from these people for almost a month. Rusty called and I told him that if that woman wanted her dog, she better come get him now, or just forget it and I would keep him. (mind you, I had 9 other dogs at the time).

Well, I still didn't see or hear from them for another month and when they did show up, ready to go back to Arizona, I told them that the dog was now our dog. I wouldn't let them uproot the dog at this point.

It didn't seem to be to much of a tragedy to the woman who he belonged to, and Rosenblatt was too happy with us to be given back. He was already settled in and believed this was his home and all the pesky little dogs were his brothers and sisters. And besides, I had already got McGoo, the blind puppy, who loved Rosie from the minute they met. He is still his favorite. They really love each other.

So, that is is how it happened and why I am here. And even though mom didn't think she would have big dogs again, she loves me and is glad I am here....I KNOW this!
