Thanque (thank you) is a registered kennel. It was founded by Ruth Joste Sarvis in the 60's. The name has a lot of meaning to Ruth, as it signifies her graditude to the breeders that helped her get her start and to her Boxers. She started her kennel with the purchase of a dog from Hollyce Stewart (the original "Mrs. Treceder"), who was also her first champion, Ch. Treceder's Adventure. Then she purchased a double Treceder bitch, Treceder's Chocolate Sundae
By outcrossing another double Treceder bitch, Treceder's Muchas Gracias, CDX to Ch. Holly Lane's Winter Forecast, a bitch from that litter was bred to Ch. Merrilane's Holiday Fashion, SOM. This produced her first "Thanque" bitch, Thanque Poko, a Dam of Merit. With Leigh and David Hann, they bred Poko twice to Ch. Holly Lane's Diamond Replay, SOM. This produced Ch. Thanque Taos, Ch. Thanque Yapa Kachina and Ch. Thanque Kashi Kachina. Poko was then bred to Ch. Araby's Shortstop, SOM to produce Ch. Thanque Owaq Kachina. Ch. Thanque Taos was bred to Ch. Vimar's EST and produced the second Dam of Merit for Thanque Kennels, Thanque Yankee Doodle Joy, who was owned by Jerry and Dorothy Bryant of Interlude Boxers. Joy was the dam of five champions sired by Ch. Araby's Black Watch, SOM. One of these, Ch. Thanque Joy of Interlude, better known as "Phoenix", was ABC Grand Futurity winner in 1989. Her breeders are Dorothy and Jerry Bryant, who handled her exclusively. Phoenix lived with her son and his wife- Craig and Donna Joste. They now carry on the Thanque name and breeding program.
