Wow I haven't written on here on so long...
Spring has finally sprung. Really I don't know how much Spring we are going to get. Seems that we are going right into the warmth of early Summer. Oh joy! The boys are VERY ready for summer school. Kyle will have to attend one month of summer school to catch up in reading and language arts. This has been a very hard year for him, but he's chugging right along. He is also going to Vacation Bible School up at our church. I'm hoping that it will be good for him socially as well as spiritually. Getting used to church has been a challenge for both boys.
I have been busy. Gardening, Mom-ing and Spring cleaning/reorganizing. I am trying to get all of the clothing that I have collected packed and ready to ship to the Schmitt family in Colorado. They are such nice people and I am in awe of how they have reached out to children in need by fostering and adopting. Martha home schools them as well. She is amazing!
The boys and I have gotten more involved at church. Erik lends a hand in the Nursery a couple of times a month. I've volunteered to help with cleaning the church and the first annual Mother's Day flower planting.
We continue to be hopeful that Odin will receive TAD orders for June to a school in Quantico, VA followed up by some much needed leave time here at home. It has a been a very long and difficult 5 months. Sad to think that if he were on a regular deploy that he'd be nearly finished. Instead we aren't quite yet 1/4 of the way into this one.
Our family is continually blessed by wonderful neighbors. In the last huge storm half of our side fence blew down. Our wonderful neighbor Dave and his son Evan along with some help from Erik, built a brand new one. It looks wonderful and matched perfectly with the one that Odin put up last year. Now we only have one side to go and that is planned for the Fall.
The Great Blue Herons that I have grown so fond of are nesting, so I've had to find other photography subjects. The one attached to today's blog is of my front yard after I finished planting and Erik mowed and whipper snipped. I will take more when the flowers are at the peak of their bloom. Which reminds me... time to get out the Miracle Grow.
