Wow, well it's been a very stressful couple of weeks. Last week we conferenced with all the teachers at both schools. Looks like both boys will be attending summer school. Kyle needs to go so he can be promoted to the 2nd grade. Erik needs to go because he has been lazy all year and is now in danger of retention because his grades are in the toilet. Life has it's little ironies: Erik is naturally gifted and he sits on his ass and does nothing. Kyle has to struggle everyday with school, but he works his tail off and then some.
Odin has had some changes too. He is at sea this week, then home next. In late April he's gonna be gone for a short deploy. When he returns, it looks like he will be changing ships and gearing up for a long deployment in December. As usual, the story has drastically changed from last May when I agreed to uproot our lives and bring us all here to Virginia.
On top of all that, my Grandma Joan passed away. She was a unique person to say the least. I was estranged from her for probably the last 8-10 years. I feel very badly for my Grandpa as I know he will miss her a great deal. Her last years were filled with a struggle with Dementia, possibly Alzheimer's. I don't know for sure as information is very sketchy. I hope she had a joyful reunion with her loved ones who had gone before. May she rest in peace.
One bright shining light has been my Mom's upcoming visit. We are all looking forward to that. We are hopeful for good weather. The weather has been a bit schizophrenic lately. This past week it's been very cold, with some rain and lots of wind. Two weekends ago we had snow. Today it looks sunny. I think we'll start calling it Sybill instead of weather. LOL
