Frickin' Monday.
So this is how my day started off....
Here is my letter to the Field Supervisor for the Norfolk Public Schools Transportation Division. I am fucking fuming.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Good Morning Mr. R*********,
Firstly I want to thank you for the job that you do. Getting students to school in a safe and timely manner is an enormous task. You and your employees do this every day with professionalism and courtesy and I appreciate it very much. That is why this morning's incident was so disturbing to me.
My child, Kyle *********, rides the 1** bus. He is the last child picked up in the R******** area and the only child who catches the bus at the regular stop on the corner of **nd Street and C*******. Due to major construction in the neighborhood, the regular driver goes up **nd Street instead of around H**** Drive, which is one block over. She normally picks up Kyle on her way by as we live in the middle of the block on **nd Street.
In the past, when there has been a substitute driver, we have met the bus at the corner of **nd and C*******. We are out on the porch and watching early enough to make the corner in the event that it is indeed a relief driver. However this morning the driver was early, and she went speeding by our house. I was able to flag her down at the corner of **nd Street and H**** Drive. Before was even able to apologize for my lateness/missing her, she started yelling. And I do mean yelling about how it's not her fault and whatever the regular driver does she does... etc... When I asked if she would be driving this afternoon, so I could make appropriate plans, she said, "I have NO IDEA!!" and proceeded to slam the bus doors in my face.
Mr. R********, I know that driving a school bus must be very stressful to say the least. It's not a job that I would undertake. However, that being said, I do think that this driver's attitude and level of professionalism were sorely lacking common courtesy. As I said I sincerely appreciate the job that all of you do. I thought that perhaps since you do have such a high standard of excellence and commitment to good service, you would want to be advised of my experience this morning.
With kindest regards,
Paula W********
