Our Story

This is Ruby and Bill Dudley on their 50th wedding anniversary. They made a dynamic pair in the Pekingese fancy. Ruby handled and groomed the Pekingese and Bill did all the driving to and from the shows. They are grand people in the Pekingese world contributing greatly to the beloved Pekingese with 126 home bred champions and many more that could and should have been champions if they had of been shown. Most of their exhibiting was from the 60's through the 1980's. The past few years they have not been able to show their Pekes, but are still breeding healthy, home raised puppies maintaining their outstanding Dud-Lee quality.

In the early 1960's they purchased their first show bitch from Dorothy Quigley's Orchard Hill Kennel. Next they purchased a male from Donald Drake's Don-Dee line and started breeding. In 1965 they purchased a dog from Pat Cole that was destined to be her first Champion, Zodiac Joe. After Clara Alford handled Zodiac Joe "Joe" to his Championship title, Ruby handled Joe earning their first group I in October of 1966

The next addition to the Dud-Lee kennel was the outstanding bitch that became CH. Khi Yu Ki-Ku's Khi-Lyn of Dud-Lee's. She was the top producing Bitch (1975 Kennel Review) and held that honor for a number of years.

Four of her offspring were sired by BIS Int'l CH. Ku-Chin Tom-Mi of Seng Kye "Tom-Mi" from Irene Ruschhaupt's Sin Lee Kennel and two group winning brothers were out of the great Tom-Mi son CH. Tom-Mi Masterpiece Sing Lee.

In 1971 the great Tom-Mi son CH. Tom-Mi Masterpiece Sing Lee came to the Dud-Lee kennel, who produced 12 Champions for her including the AM/CAN CH. Masterpiece Zodiac of Dud-Lee's "Zodi", who won a BIS and numerous group placements. Zodi was purchased by Kay Jeffords and Mike Wolf in 1974 and continued his winning with 3 more BIS and over 50 Toy group . He was the number 1 Pekingese in the nation in 1974.

After leaving Zodi in New York with Kay and Mike, they started showing CH. Ku-Chin Tom-Mi Tu of Dud-Lee's then finishing Dud-Lee's Little Timothy to his title. Following Timothy was one of their favorite AM/CAN CH. Dud-Lee's Khi-Lyn Masterpiece "Khi-Lyn". They traveled exhibiting Khi-Lyn to over 100 shows. Khi-Lyn was a multiple Group 1st winner and produced 9 Champions. Khi-Lyn was the # 1 Peke (breeder-owner-handled) in the nation for several years.

CH. Dud-Lee's Lypton's Lysander "Sandy" was the last Pekingese that Ruby and Bill owner/handled as a special. He was the sire of 8 champions and received multiple group placements.

This is Sandy in 1989 at two years of age winning a group I.

Their lastest BISS winner is BISS CH.Dud-Lee's JJ's Superman. He was shown at 10 months going Best Puppy in Sweepstakes at the North Central Illinois Pekingese Specialty. Then at the same show in regular classes under the world renown Pekingese authority, Mr. Nigel Aubrey Jones from the St. Aubrey kennel, Superman went on this day to receive winner dog, best of winners, and Best of Breed Specialty over an entry of 47. He was superbly handled by a to his title by our good friend, Barbara Streemke.

Another exciting win for Ruby and Bill was Dud-Lee's Majical Keepsake "Kissey" earning Best in Sweepstakes over an entry of 60 puppies at the Chigaco specialty in 1996. Kissey went on to finish her championship title expertly handled by Arlon Duit in 1996.

The next Pekingese that Arlon campaigned and finished his championship title for the Dudley's was CH. Dud-Lee's Superman's Destiny.

Ruby and Bill continue their success in the Pekingese world with 126 home breed Champions to their credit. They are currently breeding and raising beautiful, healthy, home raised Pekingese puppies of the distinctively Dud-Lee show quality. Their Champions are only a small part of their success.

To quote Ruby, "Bill and I have enjoyed going to the shows together over the years, with Bill doing the driving and me the grooming and showing the dogs. It has been a very rewarding and great experience that we wouldn't have missed for the world. After many years it has become a way of life, one that we love very much, especially meeting the many wonderful friends we have made over the years. Our life has been rich and full in the Pekingese World and we thank God every day for it."

I thank God everyday for Ruby and Bill, my wonderful and loving grandparents.
