Hi. My name is Joan aka "The Lilley Pad". I have been a Community Leader with Petsburgh since July 2000.
This is supposed to be a History of the Petsburgh CL's, but I am one of the New Kids on the Block, so this will be a rather short "Current Event" feature.
Lights, Camera, Action.....on with the show. In July 2000, Paula sent me an e-mail asking me if I would like to be a Community Leader with Petsburgh. Well....after I picked myself up of the floor, and believe me, that was a bit of a task, I thought about it and was totally thrilled that I was asked. So Kewl. Thanks Paula, my first contact and eventually my "boss".
So I bit the bullet and shortly after I was contacted by this real cool lady named Punkie. She said she was going to be my mentor and would help me through the tests and do whatever she could to help me out. Thanks Punkie. You were great, and of course, still are.
On July 29, SuSue and Mona contacted me and said that I had passed the test and welcomed me to Petsburgh. I was thrilled to be a part of what has now become my second family.
I was assigned to Paula's team to work in the Stable. Great, I thought, this brings back memories of my summers long, long ago on my uncle's farm. We used to have so much fun riding horses, and all the other fun farm stuff.
In August I signed up to be a Petsburgh Butterfly and have been fluttering around contest sites ever since. I must have done a lot of fluttering that first month, as I received the Golden Butterfly Award for August. No wonder my wings were tired.
And it only gets better. On August 5, the Lilley Pad Pets were totally flabbergasted to be awarded the Honor site Award for the Realm of Spoiled Pets.
In September I joined the Pride of Petsburgh Contest Committee and shortly after that, the Pet Site of the Week Committee.
AND shortly after that I joined the Stable Pick of the Week Committee as a member. In January 2001, Dawn asked if I would Co-Chair the Stable Pick of the Week Committee with her.
The year 2001 started off with a wonderful honour. I was chosen as the Community Leader for January 2001 and I just have to share this award with you.
In January 2001, I asked Barb if I could help her with the Petsburgh Animal Rescue Site. My heart and soul are with the helpless and homeless animals, and want to do all I can to stop the abuse of those animals who are not fortunate to live in a good happy healthy home environment.
In Mid-January, I signed up for the Petsburgh Graphics Committee and am having a great time designing backgrounds, tubes, buttons, banners...you name it, I want to learn everything I can about graphics.
Well, gee, I guess my current events is a little longer than I thought it would be. I seem to have my feet in a lot of pies, don't I. But I am enjoying every minute of it and hope to be a part of Petsburgh for a long long time. It's a good thing I retired (early, of course) last May or I wouldn't have much time to devote to Petsburgh.
Petsburgh is a great place to live, and I am glad to have all of you as my neighbours. You are the best, and I hope I can live in your neighbourhood for a long long time.
As I write this I think to myself, six months ago all of you were only 'names' to me. I didn't know who you were or how wonderful you all were. Look what can happen in six short months.
Thank you for letting me be a part of Petsburgh. My home away from home.
