Dimidiochromis
Eccles and Trewavas constructed this genus in 1989. The name came from the word dimidiatus, a Latin word which means divided in two. This is seen by the long lateral strip found along the sides of the cichlid. They are haplochromines which prey on other fish for there primary food source. There are 4 different species of the Dimidiochromis, The most popular is the Compressicep. The other three are; Dimidiatus, Kiwinge, Strigatus, there all a large cichlid which will reach up to 10 inches. I only have a picture of the Compressicep,I'm planning to get the rest very soon.
Dimidiochromis Compressicep
The Compressicep was found in 1908 by Boulenger and he called it Paratilapia Compressicep. The cichlid is different than all other cichlids of Lake  Malawi, becouse of it's lateral compression. The males are the beaitiful with blue egg dummies in the anal fin and dorsal fin. The males are blue-red color and the females are silver or yellow-silver with a lateral strip running down the side of the cichlid.
Size: males will reach 8-10 inches and the females slighty smaller. The males will show there color at least by the time there 5 inches.

Spawning: The male will dig a pit and the female will drop her eggs and after fertilization she picks them up and after there down she leaves and finds a hiding place. It would be wise to remove the male out of the tank. Remove the female after the fry are free-swimming.

Tank: You should have a large tank to raise and breed this cichlid,  they need alot of room, there nick name has been called the eye biter, they can be very aggresive.
