Labidochromis was constructed in 1935 to have in it the type species vellican. Which they would reach 6 inches and have needle like teeth. They have become a aquarium favorites. The Labidochromis Caeruleus was found in 1956 by Fryer, which was named Caeruleus for the blue color. The name fits only some of them, there are ones that have pure white color and the yellow. This is were you get the Electric yellow name from, it's a very yellow with a black stripe runing down the dorsal fin and a black stripe on the anal fin. This Morph is the most popular in the trade. They will eat most anything you give them but they are a mbuna rock dwellers, they are found of snails, they don't crush the snail but peck them to death then pick out the meat.I have enjoyed these cichlids and I have gotten alot of fry from them, there easy to breed and alot of fun to have.
