Copadichromis
The Genus Copadichromis was constructed by Eccles/Trewavas in 1989. They are a schooling fish which were there name came from, the Greek word kopadi means to schoal. They are a open water cichlid not a rock dweller like the Mbna's. There are so many available for the aquarium and there very colorful. The size af these cichlids run from 5 inches to 7 inches depending on the species. The Copadichromis is a very popular aquarium cichlid and can adapt to the life and food in the aquarium.
The Azureus was described by AD. Koning in 1990, it may be one of the closest cichlid to the peacock. The male is metallic blue very attractive and found on Mbenji Island and Maleri Island , Nkhomo, Eccles Reef and a wider range in the southeastern part of the lake. The female is silver with three large spots in the rear half of the body.
        Trade Names:Chrysonotus Mbenji,Haplochromis chrysonotus Maleri, Haplochromis Likomae.
         Max.Lenght: males 6" and females 5"
         In the wild they feed on plankton.Spawning takes place when the male constructs a semicircular sand castle nest against and beneath a small rock.
