Cyaneus was described in 1935 br Trewavas as Haplochromis Cyaneus. The name means dark blue, the color of blue in a four color printing. The Greek word Kyaneos. Only the males have the blue color. The males are very territorial and they stay in open water and are common along the eastern coast of the lake. In the wild they feed on planktoon, in the lake there found in the clear waters over the sediment-free rocks. Breeding they head for the rocks and takes place on top of the rocks. Males can become very very nasty when they are breeding and need alot of space when they are breeding. Trade Name: Haplochromis Munnae Max. Lenght: males grow about 7.5",females grow about 6" |
