Some of the Chinoise Abyssinians pose for an Anne Geddes style photo - all I can say is "Warm bricks".

Until you have actually met an Abysinnian you will probably be put off this fabulous animal by tales of their temperament.  However these animals have a great deal of personality and will quickly steal your heart.

When I came back to cavies, the breed that I particularly wanted but was unable to find for the first few months was the Abby and now they are the dominant species in my stud.

The Abysinnian does not originate from Abysinnia  but he is renown for his bad hair day appearance - at least eight well placed rosettes over his back and hindquarters, ridges bisecting him with a great mane and mutton chop side whiskers.   These animals should have a stiff feel to their coats ( hence their grouping in the "Coarsecoats") and have a definite chequerboard appearance.

I have been exceptionally lucky in acquiring my animals - from Kate Hewson (of Victoria) and the premier Abby breeder Robert Brown as well to name two. My breeding programme is still in its early stages but I was quite gratified when Picklewick (pictured) one of the foundation sows from Kate Hewson; won the Abby Sow class at this years National. Her son Magician is turning out nicely and I look forward to showing him at next year's Royal.

NEWSFLASH- MAGICIAN won his first BOB, Best Coarsecoat and ended up Reserve in Show at the Northsiders Show last Sunday!!!!!!!!
