DANI was found along the interstate and rescued by a caring couple in Dallas. She has been named "Skidmore's Lady Sheridan" in honor of the vet who cared for her and the couple who rescued her. As you can see, she had wasted away to skin and bones when found, and was sick with mange and worms.
Look at her now! Dani is healthy, happy and ready for her forever home. She is just over 40 pounds, and her hair is growing in nicely - she feels like velvet. Dani is good with other dogs, curious about my kitten (I watch them carefully), and just loves to sit by your side for pets and attention. Contact: Marie Devaney, Houston, mariedev@main.com

NEW:MOOSE and HAWK Moose and Hawk are in the Dallas area, taken into rescue when their elderly owner suffered a debilitating stroke. They are wonderful Springers, as their foster mom describes:
Moose fits his name. He is the muscle. He will muscle in to get a pet, a meal and the ball to throw. He is not physically big but big in wanting to share love and fun. He plays a game of keeping the ball away from you while wanting you to take it and throw it for him. Hawk is the sweet heart. He quietly comes up to you for a pet and a smile. He is less demanding but will stand up for his rights. They are good together and with other dogs. Hawk does growl at Moose if Moose oversteps his bounds, but the tails are wagging the entire time. They would be great with any type of household. They love to go for walks, love to have the ball thrown and to have play day with other dogs. They are well behaved and obey all commands. They do not climb on furniture and have never climbed up stairs. The only time they bark is when the leash appears signaling it's time for a walk, then excitement reigns with lots of spinning and barking. When they sleep, they like to be close to humans but never on the beds. They eat about one cup of food in the mornings and one cup at night. They are not "beggars" to eat from human dishes though they do like the doggie treats when given.

CLIFFORD Clifford was rescued by Kate Kyer in Dallas. He's a sweetie, but he's heartworm positive. We're trying to get him into a foster home and out of the boarding kennel until he's ready for adoption. Contact Kate Kyer, kateflies8@aol.com
NEW! CASSIE Cassie was found as a stray in Austin and turned over to the local shelter. She is a black and white spayed female. Her foster mom (also her vet) estimates her age to be between 3 and 5 years. Her coat is beautiful. Her temperment is excellent. She is very friendly. She is heartworm positive. We are starting her heartworm treatment very soon. She should be ready for adoption in November. Contact Marie Devaney, mariedev@main.com.
MARLEY:!Marley has been adopted!!!
HELP "Little Cookie" Cookie is a 5 year old spayed female, heartworm negative and current on shots. She belongs to a young woman who is a student and whose parents will not keep her when she moves out to go to school. Cookie is adorable....she has the face of an English Springer Spaniel and the body of a Border Collie...complete with a Border Collie tail! She weighs 28 lbs and is in excellent condition except for some mats in her fur which are being worked on. She appears to be housebroken, is good with cats and also appears to be fine with other dogs. She is very friendly to all people, good with children, walks well on a leash and rides beautifully in the car. She likes to rest on the sofa!! And she loves doggie biscuits. Anyone who can provide her with a loving home and a yard to run in...doggie biscuits and a soft indoor bed...please contact Linda Ross-Hall by email to fhall2@msn.com.
These are dogs not in our foster care, but who are in need of permanent homes. These dogs have not necessarily been evaluated by ESRA, and the contacts listed are the primary sources for information. We list dogs in shelters as well as owner-listed dogs. Please let us know if you do adopt one of these referral dogs. We counsel owners not to give away their Springers, so a donation to ESRA can be made if the parties agree. These adoptions are private and not the responsibility of ESRA.
(There are no referral dogs listed in TX at this time.)
This sure is better than the shelter I came from!
Won't you help one of my fellow Springers? If you can't adopt, perhaps
you could provide other assistance. Volunteers are needed all over the U.S. and Canada.
Please visit our national website at http://www.springerrescue.org and see all the
Springers who would benefit from your time, talents, or financial contribution. Thank you for visiting, and check back again soon!
