Cat's Prayer

I ask for the privilege of not being born ... not to be born until you can assure me of a home and a master to protect me, and the right to live as long as I am physically able to enjoy life ... not to be born until my body is precious and men have ceased to exploit it because it is cheap and plentiful. ~ Author Unknown

Kitty Kat Kastle

The Kitty Kat Kastle Pic Collection

Living with Cats has made me humble. You haven't been ignored until you have been ignored by a Kitty Kat. And trying to keep up with five of them keeps me pretty busy at times. They are all different and although they tolerated each other, they aren't buddies. All of them want to be the only cat in the house.

Does it surprise anyone that Mitzi's Dad has spoiled her rotten? This cat eats ice cream out of a spoon. Mitzi makes sure she is on somebodies lap all of the time. I rescued Mitzi from a dirty filthy animal pound that had intended to put her asleep because she was "mean". She wasn't mean but whaever happen to the little princess' before we got her had terrified her beyond all belief. It took a lot of loving care to get her back in shape..... but what rewards! For the first two years we had her she wouldn't have anything to do with a stranger at all. At least now she will come by to say at least a sniff and hello to a house guest.

Mitzi gives good morning kisses and wants attention the first thing followed closely by FOOD. She has never forgotten that at some point in her life she was very hungry! And she NEEDS for her bowl to be the first one sit down. If one of her housemates gets their bowl before she does, she lets her displeasure be known by pouting and refusing to eat. Mitzi's favorite toy is a catdancer and she loves catnip!

This is Angel. She showed up on our doorstep early last year. Her fur was a matted mess, someone had put rubber bands around her tail resulting in it being grossly infected. AND she was starving and pregnant. We had the babies aborted, had her fixed and got her cleaned up which took a couple of months. She would only let me work on her fur problem a few minutes at a time. Angel never wanted to be inside the house so we battled over that for several months. She tore up screens, climbed to windows we thought were impossible for her to reach and was just a pain to deal with in general! She is now another lap cat and is sweet as can be. She does go outside ocassionally to chase the squirrels and she loves to lay in the sun. Her favorite toy is her mousie with a bell. I will often find Angel asleep in the parlor with mousie in her paw. Too Cute.

Misha is my second oldest cat. She was adopted at an SPCA. Misha is MY cat. And she is a strange little cat. Misha will not be held at all unless we pick her up while she is still asleep. And then she awakes pretty quickly. If she wants to be our lap it has to be all her idea. She keeps her own toe nails trimmed. Pity the human fool that trys to groom this one. Cleaning her ears is dangerous and I am only able to do just a bit at a time. She OWNS me at night. She sleeps on my pillow and sometimes she does her best to sit on my head and clean her paws. Misha makes sure my whole face is cleaned before she rests at night. Needless to say....Misha and I have had a few words.

Misha has been to the vet twice in her life and they both couldn't get near her without rolling her in a rug. This sweet little calico would tear your face off in a heartbreat. But she is incredibly sweet with me and I love her just the way she is! Misha's favorite things are lying in front of the fireplace and sunbathing. Her favorite toy is the cat dancer.

When Big Jake showed up on our doorstep in March '98 we couldn't get near him. He was obviously starving and sick. And he was feral. We started leaving food out twice a day for Big Jake. For months we would try to pet him when he came up to eat. He wouldn't have it. He always ran away. This past September I was able to pet him very lightly for just a few seconds before he would try to bite me. My persistant paid off and gradually each day got better. When it started getting cold here in Maine I started to get panicky. What about Jake? How would he stay warm? My husband and I made Jake a house. He wouldn't go in it at all. (In the mean while Big Jake was really big Jake. We think he weighs close to 25 lbs.) I finally started giving him his food right inside the doorway of our family room but the minute we tried to shut the door Jake just freaked. One evening when it was going to hit -30 with the wind chill I decided to try and pick Jake up. I held my breath. I just knew he would scratch and bite me and he did! But I got him to the basement. Jake now lives in the basement where it is warm. He comes out several times a day for ear scritches and to have his back rubbed. He still occasionally bites me to hard but I really think he is trying to play. hopefully in the future I will be able to integrate him!

MiMi is our oldest cat. She is about 14. She was also a rescue cat. She is the first and the sweetest. She has a LOUD purr and just adores being on anyone's lap and loves to be petted. She HATES Misha! They don't fight but the spitting gets sort of scary if Misha trys to lay in one of MiMi's favorite places. She loves Jake! When she sees him she sometimes gets on her back with all feet in the air. She is a shameless hussy. Her favorite toy is me!!!!!

God's Creation

On the first day of creation, God created the cat. On the second day, God created man to serve the cat. On the third day, God created all the animals of the earth to serve as potential food for the cat. On the fourth day, God created honest toil so that man could labor for the good of the cat. On the fifth day, God created the sparkle ball so that the cat might or might not play with it. On the sixth day, God created veterinary science to keep the cat healthy and the man broke. On the seventh day, God tried to rest, but he had to scoop the litterbox. "Author Unknown"
