Honey Bear joined the family on August 28, 1999. I was delivering mail when a pick up, with a big pup loose in the open truck bed, pulled up beside me and asked directions to the pound. I asked if they were going to drop off the pup and they said Yes. I told them her chances of adoption were not good, and she would most likely be put to sleep and they did not care. They asked if I wanted to take her and worrying about how large she would be with my little fellows, I hesitated. After one last look at her,I knew I would be kicking myself all the way home, but I picked her out of the truckbed and they took off.
She is a big lovable mutt about six months old. She weights 30 pounds and looks like she has a little pit bull and a lot of lab in her. She has the biggest feet I have ever seen so I expect she will grow into them. She's a clumsy, big, good natured bear.
She loves playing with my little guys but even though she does not intentionally try to hurt them, she could easily hurt them by accident.
Hi, I'm Honey Bear. This lady keeps calling me honey so I started coming when she calls because she does not know my name. I don't know why she took me from the truck I was riding in, but I have a lot of fun here chasing all these little dogs. A couple of them growl at me but they don't realize how much bigger I am. I expect they will quit that soon. She gave me a big dog bone to chew but I hid it from these little dogs. I like chasing these guys around the yard and when she separates me from them, I cry.
Here is the latest update on Honey. She has been with us for about a month now. She was spayed a week ago and tore her stitches out and had to have the surgery redone. She just doesn't want to rest long enough to recover. She loves to bark at the cats and chase the little dogs and make a pest of herself. She is tuning out to be quite a terror. Oh, and her favorite buddy is Spunky, my little Maltese. What a site they are together.
