Tennessee Valley Doberman Rescue, Inc. (TVDR) is a nonprofit organization that receives animals from various sources, such as people moving, people who cannot afford to keep their pets any longer, pets that have been abandoned, animal shelters, and from cruelty cases that have been reported to Animal Control. 

Our goal is to place unwanted, abandoned animals in suitable homes.  Foster homes are key to the number of animals we are able to rescue.  If you or someone you know would be willing to foster an animal, please get in touch with us.

Once obtained, all animals are immediately taken to the veterinarian for a comprehensive examination. Any illnesses diagnosed at this time are treated. All animals are tested for heartworms. If they are heartworm free, they are given their first series of distemper vaccinations and rabies shots. (It is assumed that the animals have never been given shots.) If the animals are healthy, they are spayed or neutered immediately and then placed in foster care to monitor temperament. After observation, the animals are placed for adoption.

All animals are micro-chipped with an Avid micro-chip. The micro-chip is registered to TVDR. If the animal is placed in a shelter again due to age, years after the adoption date, TVDR can reclaim the dog.

An adoption contract is required which includes a number of stipulations as to the expected care of future adoptees. A nominal adoption fee is requested to cover those veterinary expenses for which TVDR is not compensated.
