Nail clipping isn't always neccessary, but depending on your tastes can be done. If your birds' nails sting when perched on your hand or shoulder you may want to clip. Just as with dogs and cats, the bird must not mind having its feet handled. This can be part of the everyday touching and loving you do with your bird. The next thing is to have a small pair of nail scissors. Barely trimming the tips is all that is neccessary, but be careful not to clip the quick. The quick is the blood vessel inside the nail.
