What's your heart's fondest dream?
Of love, of romance, or marriage?
From the day you're born it's there
The truth of what you'll be.
Your heart's fondest wishes, born to be free.
If they could live to be as they wish,
Where would hope have to stay?
One cannot know her fondest dreams
Until the time they can no longer be.
To be just dreams of the heart is sin
Until the time in life when a dream
Can become a reality instead.
He called her that night. She'd waited all day to hear the phone ring. A
pressure visibly lifted to hear his voice on the other end. He said he
was fine, everything went great. His heart already ached, wishing her
to be there or him to be with her. She kept her voice light. To be strong
for him tonight. The conversation was short and sad. No one knew how to
voice it. The distance seemed longer with each passing minute. As she
hung up, this she knew, he was thousands of miles away and hung onto her
heart by only a thread.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder
Or it can tear it to sheds.
Love can be closer with distance
Or die it's sad death.
Two lovers can hug and hold each other
While their hearts run in opposite directions.
He was gone for God-knows-how-long and she was left alone. With
only memories and their last kiss to remember him by. She cried
and cried and cried. His name caused her tears, his voice caused
her pain. She endured for his sake to pretend.
The phone did ring the next day. She never expected what she
got. The day her life whirled, tilted and fell, crashing into a
million pieces. The voice on the other end was gruff with
regret. The loss of a good soldier, a son, husband and friend.
No one could replace what was gone. No one knew how to heal the
hurt.
The ache would forever stay
Til her heart turned to dust
He was gone for good
She'd never see him again
They'd made him go
To fight a war he didn't start
They took his life from her
Without a thought.
The days were all dark and deary. She didn't care if the sun
ever rose again. For if it did, she couldn't bear it, she was
sure. The light of her life had gone out. Nothing mattered
anymore. They'd taken him from her, destined never to return. As
they laid him down to rest, she cried. This was her goodbye,
even though he never got to say it.
What's your hearts worst fear?
Of death, of shame or regret?
From the day you're born, it's there
The truth of what will be
Your heart's worst fears
Your heart's worst fears, ready to leap.
Hope lives there to guard the gate
To keep the fears locked away tight.
How can one know how great it is
Until the time it's let loose to roam?
To take over one's life, for control of it
When reality becomes unreal, it's the end.
