Some of you may not know it, but chickens make super pets! They are beautiful, playful, humourous, cute and full of character. They *are* fun to have around, and give us lots of fresh green and brown eggs every day. Meet our little flock. We'be got a little bit of everything: Cochins, Mille Fleurs, Buff Orpingtons, Ameracaunas, Rosecomb, Dark Brahmas, Buttercups, Lakenvelder, Spanish, Phoenix, Dorking, Polish, Faverolles, Egyptian Fayoumis, Barred Rocks, Sussex, and some mixed breeds.

Here's some chickens getting a treat for posing so well for the camera.

Two Buff Orpington pullets, enjoying a summer evening.

Beethoven, a Frizzle Cochin bantam, and Phantom, a Rosecomb pullet.

Puffy, a pet quality Silver Laced Polish pullet. She obviously can't really see too much!

Pengu, our Ameracauna cross cockerel.

Chicks in every colour of the rainbow :)

Sunflower, an Ameracauna, with one of her newly hatched chicks. She so loves motherhood!

Here's one of our Silver Laced Wyandotte pullets, isn't she cute?

One of the new babies in all his newborn wetness..bet he's glad to get out of the cramped quarters of that egg! :)

Buttercup, a Black Sex-Linked hen. About 20 weeks old in the picture. We think she's lovely, with her irridescent green feathers and red around her neck. She's the friendliest chicken and man, does she love her food! :)

The white chicken in front is Maggie. (the other two are Rose and Buttercup). She's a Columbian Rock. Maggie's really brave and often wanders away from the other chickens to search for her own morsels of food- they are on free range. She's the hardest to get back into the barn for the night, as she doesn't believe she has a curfew :)

This is Lily. She is extremely tame and most friendly of all the chickens, and she flies up to perch on people just like a parrot! (and sometimes the horses too!) She's an Ameracauna.

This is Lancelot, I'll Mille Fleur cockeral. He won Grand Champion cockeral at the Hymers fall fair....and he never let's anyone forget it!

Our Buff Orpington and white cochin pullet are inseparable friends, and they really like to hang out together on top of the nesting boxes.

This fine dark beauty is our bantam Rosecomb hen, she's the smallest chicken we have. She's no bigger than a pigeon.

Here's a shot of a bunch of the young chickens having dinner in the coop. You can see the Mille Fleurs, the Wyandottes, and a silver Phoenix.

Chickens venturing out into the cold. Snow doesn't stop them- they love to explore.
