(pronounced "HOE-ann-boo", derived from the first 2 letters of each of my names:
HOlly ANn BUroker)

HOANBU Dairy Goats was established by Holly Buroker in 1988 in rural Logan County in West Central Ohio.  This small 4-breed herd (Nubians, Alpines, Saanens and Recorded Grades) has come a long way from the more-than-humble beginnings of 2 grade does to breeding more than 23 homebred permanent champions... and counting!  Averaging just 12 to 15milkers, the entire herd, both then and now is
solely compromised of homebred does, all of whom descend from those first 2 unregistered grade does (the start to my Alpine and Saanen herds), and a single purebred Nubian doe kid (the start of my Nubian herd) purchased in 1990.  We pride ourselves in the fact that Hoanbu has long been a "breeder" of quality dairy goats and not just a "buyer".  We continue to breed beautiful, quality dairy goats today.

Over these years, we have been awarded countless show wins along with untold stars and pluses for production, and have sold animals who have done the same for their new owners. We attend as many shows as we can (11 show locations in 2006, which does not count for the individual judges we saw at the double and triple ring shows), participate in one-day milk tests (2 in 2006), as well as Linear Appraise for proof of type and production.   Our whole herd Linear Appraisal final scores averaged FS88 (87.57) for the 14 mature animals in the herd, including milking yearlings, mature does, and bucks.

We strive to produce highly productive show quality animals in each of the three breeds we keep.  Hoanbu Nubians are based on the genetics of older WInterberry and Hallcienda lines combining with the newer Wingwood Farm,  Lakeshore Farms and Kastdemur's.  Hoanbu Alpines are based on older Sodium Oaks, Nodaway and Missdees lines, while my Hoanbu Saanens have faithfully followed McQuitty Farm, Willow Run, and Windsor Manor lines.

For 11 years, kids were raised on a strict pasteurization program to prevent the spread of the CAE virus (Caprine Arthritis Encephalitis virus). After consecutive annual whole-herd negative CAE tests, we allowed kids to nurse, but soon realized that dam raised kids are far too hard to handle for a show herd.  In 2007, we will once again hand raise kids.   Additionally, the Hoanbu herd is now and always has been abscess-free.  Being from Ohio, a TB and Brucellosis-free state, we are also free of those diseases as well.

Our Nubian senior herdsire
GCH +*B Lakeshore-Farms Star Status EX90 and our new Nubian junior herdsire, Lakeshore EX Summer Exodus are from the highly competitive west coast herd, Lakeshore Farms, the ADGA National Show Premier Nubian Breeder and Exhibitor in 2003, 2004 2005, AND 2006.    THANK YOU to the Tredway's at Lakeshore Farms!  GCH +*B Lakeshore-Farms Star Status 3-02 EX90 is a son of SG ++*B Kastdemur's At Your Service 6-0 EX90. Ace sired the 2003 ADGA National Show RGCH and Best Udder Nubian CH Lakeshore-Farms Ace of Hearts 2-04 EX91 EEEE as well as 2nd place Junior Get of Sire and 2nd place Senior Get of Sire at the 2005 Nationals.  Status's dam is the late GCH Lakeshore-Farms Skipa Star 3*M 4-01 VG89.  Skipa Star was part of the '03 and '04 ADGA Nationals 1st place Dam and Daughter.  Status's full sister  is Lakeshore-Farms Starburst.  She was the 11th place milking yearling at the 2005 National Show.  Status is proving to us that he is a great Nubian sire as he has some outstanding offspring already.  Status sired 4 does in the top 10 at the 2006 ADGA National Show.  He also sired the 1st and 3rd place 2 year olds, RGCH, and Best Udder  Nubian at the 2006 NAILE in Louisville, KY.  I have a limited amount of Status semen for sale at the farm while the majority of his semen will be marketed through BioGenics.

Our
2006 Buckeye Sale consignment *B Hoanbu Status Gawain was the HIGHEST SELLER of the sale at $1,550.00.  THANK YOU to the Lucas and Siferd families for purchasing Gawain!  You can view Gawain's page on the Ohio Dairy Goat Association's site to see pictures of him and his family.  I do have very limited quantities of  semen for sale at the farm from Gawain's full brother *B Hoanbu Status Gatlinburg.  You can see my page for Gawain here.

Reserve your 2007 HOANBU kid now!  I have a Kidding Chart up for the 2007 babies, though there may still be some last minute changes to it for late kids.  We have had a good bit of success with AI this year, and have several does settled to some extremely nice AI sires.  Be sure to look them over.  You can reserve your own HOANBU buck or doe kid by contacting us at (937) 441-0607 or email at hoanbu@hotmail.com .  We will also have some nice milkers for sale  after kidding as we can't keep as many as we are freshening.  We wish you much success & happiness in the upcoming year!
