THE ARABIAN
Thought to be the oldest of all horse breeds, the arabian is know worldwide for it's beauty and stamina. From it's dished head to it's high tail carriage, the arabian has been of major influence in many other breeds, such as the thoroughbred. The exact origins of the arabian are not clear, but it was well know for living in the Arabian desert (where the breed got it's name) with Bedouin tribes. It was respected and revered as a long distance horse, able to survive in harsh lands and for being able to carry a rider for long distances. Standing on average between 14.2 and 15 hands high, non-solid colour in the arabian has been discouraged, and some of the most common colourings are chestnut, grey, bay and black. Flea-bitten grey is accepted. The arabian is a fast learner and a willing worker, so it is a good choice for many people.
