The
"G" Litter
My memory of this litter will be the sunny, but cold, day I drove down to Michigan to
take Chatter visit the stud dog. It was a lovely drive, and lovely visit with the
Belknaps. It was marred only by the rear window of my mini-van cracking in the cold - and
then falling into a million little pieces in the Belknaps' driveway!
Now imagine picking all those pieces up out of the snow!
These puppies also travelled: one flew to Washington State, one flew to British
Columbia, one went to New York State, two to Toronto, two to Kingston, and one to the very
eastern part of Ontario.
Sire: Ch. Oakwood Challenge of Vines - "Trevor"
Dam: Can/Am Ch. Roughrider Autograph Barnunn Can CD, Can/Am TD - "Chatter"
Believe it or not, the CKC is still working on the registration for this litter. So the
official, registered names aren't available yet.
The puppies in the litter were:
Males:
"Jiggs"
"Cody"
"Gwithian"
"Stormy"
Females:
"Meadow"
"Sitka"
"Maddy"
"Martie"
Special Information:
"We start class with Cody tomorrow night . He is
doing great and is a very handsome boy . He is sitting for me with a hand signal and is
progressing with his stay he is showing me that he is very smart. We will see how he
soes over the next several weeks of training before we start going to any trials.
Cody is now 44 lbs.and is as solid as a rock." - from Gary, August
"Sitka and I are in puppy class. The
instructor keeps picking on us, partly because she picks up anything really fast
(especially when a treat is held in front of her face), and partly because I am a vet
student. I am having a blast teaching her to stand, bow, twirl, spin, roll over,
give me high-five, crawl, and all of the other basics. Like I said before, she'll do
anything for a treat! She picks up on hand signals really fast, which I am not used
to using so I now have to be very careful what I do with my hands so I don't confuse her.
She has been a challenge to train, mostly because she picks up on stuff so fast that she
gets bored (she needs repition, but gets really annoyed if it the same command every
time). She loves digging (my friend's golden retreiver puppy taught her that trick),
so now she has her own special digging corner in the back yard (hopefully to save my yard
and gardens...we'll see)." - from Danielle, August
"Thought we'd give you an update on our little girl. She has grown
immensely in these few weeks; is starting to shed her puppy fur and is becoming quite
leggy as she grows and is now in the midst of teething. She has been a star at puppy
kindergarten and we hope this continues through the next couple of "grades". At
home she is doing much better with only the occasional accident now. Maddy
really is a very smart puppy. She continues to be a very dominant personality but any
dominant streak that was ever to be found in her new family have come out in full force to challenge her over the last few weeks. If she'd only sleep in the morning until past 5:30
she'd get along with us a lot better. Until then we just get up with her on a rotation
basis. Hopefully this will settle before the kids leave to work at camp in the summer
('cause then there will be only Sue and
I on the rotation!)" - from Rob, June
"Martie is doing GREAT! She is pretty much house-broken now,
she does go and sit by the door and whine, the problem is that she only gives about 10
seconds warning so you really have to run to make sure you let her out in time. I
had her at the vet a couple of weeks ago to get her shots and she was 11.4 lbs (I
think). I bet she is much heavier than that now, because her legs have gotten longer
and a lot thicker. I've also noticed her coat is starting to change, her puppy hair
appears to be being replaced with longer, less fluffy hair. She is very beautiful.
And, SHE'S SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT NOW!!!!" - from Tim, June
"Meadow ... is housebroken somtimes, nips at our
feet and toes all of the time, and is a bundle of joy. The kids love her madly, and Meadow
loves them back just as much." - from Marnie, May
"No one could tear this little guy away from me with a team of
horses. Stormy's just such an ideal puppy, already leashed trained, has
never messed in the house, and loves to venture everywhere with me. I have his new deluxe
digs a.k.a. (doghouse) built , but he's a bit too young yet to be out in the kennel
(that's my excuse). He sleeps in the house on his own blanket beside the bed and we do our
early "outside" venture at 4 a.m. ... it's not so bad , the birds are already
singing by then and the Canada geese are arriving in the field. Stormy doesn't quite know
what to make of them, I'm sure he's thinking there was supposed to be only one BIG BIRD!
He's never without a toy in his mouth and plays with the 1 year old F/C all the time when
we're home. He's going to be pretty fiesty, already growls at her when she tries to rip
off his "poliwog" sqeak toy." - from Don, May
"Stormy" in his deluxe dog house.
