We acquired our first Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Windermere's Debonair in 1995 from Stewart and Judy Williams of Windermere Cardigans. Debbie is a nonstop play hard type of cardigan and she has a wonderful pedigree which includes a lot of Cardigan greats! Her show career started off with a bang when at age six months she entered her first show and received a four point major. She was handled by Emily who was 13 years old. Towards the end of 1996 we knew we would be leaving for Australia and Debbie was one of the dogs going with us. We decided to leave her with a handler after we left so that she could possibly finish her championship title. When we left in December 1996 she had seven points. She won her second major and made it to fourteen points by her March 1997 shipping date.
Not knowing how long we might be in Australia and wanting to use some of the Australian bloodlines, we decided to breed her. She was bred to Australian Champion Finlai Cedar Beau and she had seven puppies on October 5, 1997. We have kept two of those puppies for future breeding as we learned to treasure some of the great Australian Cardigans. She is now in whelp to another great Australian Cardigan, Aust. CH Llandwyn Top Notch.
After Debbie is through raising this next litter of puppies we might try some performance events. She has already done some obedience, herding and agility. It might be time for her to tune up and do some fun things!
The litter has arrived! You can see pictures of the puppies by clicking HERE.
