Welcome to Double B Paints! My name is Gloria Black. My partner, Allan Brandt and I raise registered paints in southeastern South Dakota, about 45 miles northwest of Sioux Falls, South Dakota. I have over 40 years experience raising and breeding horses.

Years ago, I raised and showed Appaloosas. I was an active member of the Center of the Nation (CON) Appaloosa Horse Club for several years. Both my son and daughter showed horses at registered Appaloosa horse shows and also in 4-H.

For a few years, I decided to take a break from raising horses and only owned two horses. During those quieter times, Allan and I enjoyed trail riding in the Black Hills of South Dakota and also made a ride to Harney Peak (highest point in South Dakota). Still, there hasn't been a time in my life since I owned my first horse at age 16 that horses haven't been a part of it.

About ten years ago, I started raising registered APHA (Paint) horses. Our 1996 stallion Pine Time produced a nice crop of stud colts and fillies for us over the years. In 2002, Pine moved to his new home in Wisconsin to live with owner Corey Braskamp. That same year we replaced Pine Time with Mr Young Gun (aka Dozer).
