6. WORK WITH FILES
The UNIDAT program allows to store the information in
different files a database under the discretion of the user. Any of these files
after a load in the program will be be "the work files". At start of the program a
file, former by the work during the previous exit from the program,
is automatically loaded.
For creation of a new file, where all records from a current file will be
automatically copied, it is necessary to choose item of the Main Menu
"Main menu -> files -> Copy to another file" and to enter in revealing window a
name of this file. This name should not be at already being available files a
database and it should begin with the English letter, to contain only allowable
in names of DOS-files symbols and should not exceed
8 symbols. The extension of a filename is not entered. If the base with
an entered name of a file already existed, the program will inform on it and
will offer to enter other filename.
The function of copying
in other file is very convenient, for example, for fulfilment of a team of
selection for preservation of those records, which were selected, in a special
file for keep and further use of this information. Also it is possible to
use at breakdown of a database of large volume on a little bit small and for
other purposes.
For creation of an empty new file it is necessary to carry out a
team of the Main Menu "Main menu -> Files -> Creat New file". Rules of
putting of a new filename in this case precisely same, as well as
described for the previous team.
For a load in a working zone other of already created files
you necessary to carry out a team of the Main Menu "Main menu -> File -> Open"
and choose from the list the necessary file.
For removal of a current file it is necessary to carry
out a team of the Main Menu "Main menu -> File -> Delete" and to
confirm the intention by the answer on following 2 warning messages.
For clearing the information in a current file without
removal of the file it is necessary to carry out a team of the Main
Menu "Main menu -> File -> Clear" and also to confirm the intention by
the answer on following
2 warning messages.
For automatic creation of a backup copy of a current file, not
leaving from the program, it is possible to carry out a team of the Main Menu "
Main nenu -> File -> Copy to reserve". Thus will be copying a current file in
a directory "\REZERV". For fulfilment of this team on the computer
already such directory (it should be beforehand created should without
fail be in a root directory of a disk current for the UNIDAT program).
By the indicator what database in the current moment is in a working
zone, information in top of the table is. In it such data are available,
as a name of a current file, name of server or computer in a network, on which
there is this file, amount of records in a file and the information
as access to the current file (is permitted whether or not to write in
it).
