Chevreherd Priceless Pearl CGC;
blue merle copper with white; blue eyes; NBT; 12/91;OFA/G "Pearl's"
story is a rather curious one. She has become the hub of the pedigree wheel at
Chevreherd. She was born to Tara
and Jay at my sister's house before
my wedding. This being her parent's first litter and due to my acquiring Ruby, I
did not plan to keep her and she was sold to a home in Washington. Reports were
not good, she did not get along in her new home and by chance a fellow in New York
called looking for just such a working cattle dog as Pearl.
She flew to NY and subsequently delivered three whelps for him. His misfortune
then became my good fortune and an angel named Jennifer nursed Pearl from having
a muzzle full of porcupine quills before sending her back to Chevreherd.
Pearl proved to be a powerful varmint dog and most recently last summer rid our
back yard of three opossum along with the stray rabbit and unwary rats and mice.
Pearl produced well with several different males including these good dogs:
Chevreherd BridgeitlynxTuBanx "Copper"
Chevreherd Wood Cain Rocker
"Rocky"
Chevreherd Gayla Eventer
"Gayla"
Chevreherd Cowhock Nibbler
"Nibbley"
Chevreherd Precious Gem
"Gem"
Chevreherd BridgeitlynxTuBanx OFA-G "Copper" produced two litters first by Int CH Briarbrook's Knight of Zion CD,CGC ("Muggsy"), producing Int CH Chevreherd X-Mas Lass "Lassie" and then to Brookridge Sheer Power "Wally", producing Chevreherd Power Flash. "Flash" sired Pearl's final litter, producing Chevreherd's Priceless Gem "Gem". This was a long-awaited, fabulous cross. I wish I could have kept several or provided competition homes to all; they are in loving homes nevertheless. Copper is now retired to a pet home.
Kel-Mars RC Rippin Ruby DNA-CP, OFA-E "Ruby" produced four outstanding litters from these fine dogs: Kel-Mars Ricochet Cain ("Ric"), Muggsy , Chevreherd Outa the Woods ("Yahoo"), Chevreherd Wood Cain Rocker. Ruby was a daughter of the famous "Ruffian" AKA Texas Sand KM Ruffian Cain CD, ATDsd, STDc, TI and by Cloud 9 Brumby of Kel-Mar--son of Kel-Mars Herd Em of Colorado "Dino", who was also behind Yahoo and Tara. Ruffian's sire was the great WTCH CH Windsong Raisin Cain CD.
Sprog's Harlequin Bear DNA-CP, OFA-G "Muttly's" career at Chevreherd started with a trip from Colorado and ended with a trip to a working ranch in Utah as a started cattle dog. He produced several nice litters with Sheila and Kayla while here and simply due to circumstances did not end up figuring quite as prominently in my breeding program as I had planned. "Old Muttly was a real dog", as Clint, my hubby" was wont to say. His puppies were nicely built, eager to interact, and he blended especially well with Kayla's "eager to work" attitude. Muttly contributes to the future of Chevreherd through Chevreherd Sweet Bell Sprog "Sweetums" and Chevreherd Max.
Chevreherd Blues Singer "Blue" was a nicely built and attractive working dog, the product of Tara's sister, Chevreherd Freckled Cedar and Chevreherd Basque to the Future STDs AKA "Sam". I was very disappointed that Blue produced several malocclusions regardless of the bitch and therefore he was retired from the breeding program. Two of his success stories are Kay and Hope. His daddy, Sam, was my willing subject in learning how to train a stock dog. He and I didn't understand cattle too well back then as you can see in Sam's photo located in the "Photo Album".
