Male or Female? Which Color? What Age? How Many?
So many choices to be made before you buy your ferret.
Choosing the color and sex of your new ferret is strictly a matter of personal preference. Males and females require about the same amount of space and time. Both are equally hardy. The sexes do not differ greatly in behavior; ferrets have individual personalities. A particular color or sex does not influence the nature of the pet.
Male and female kits start out at about the same size. However, the mature male is about twice the size of a mature female. Males will range from 3 to 5 pounds (1.5-2.5 kg), while females grow to a mere 1.5 to 3 pounds (0.75-1.5 kg).
Neutered and de-scented ferrets have very little odor, but a spayed and de-scented female has the least odor of all. After all, you have only half as many pounds of ferret in the house.
