Raijen @ 7 Months
As you can see Raijen has grown quite a lot. He is turning into a beautiful bobcat. Raijen is approximately 15 pounds, but still growing, and eating me out of house and home. It appears that he is going to be longer and taller than his mother and father. He is very solid, and muscular. Everyone that sees him comments on his barrel chest. His fur is still soft, and his spots seem to be getting more prodominent. He is starting to grow into his ears, and tail some. That tail of his seems to have a mind of it's own. It will wiggle like a rattle snake at all times, even while he is sleeping.
This is Noche and Raijen. You can see how long Raijen is getting. Noche and Raijen still play together. Raijen likes it better when Noche is resting, then he can go up to him, and give him a bath. Noche will tolerate it until Raijen gets a little carried away and decides it is time to bite. At that point Noche will just get up and leave.
Raijen decided that he wanted to go for a short walk with my friend Wolfie and her companion. These are pictures of the walk. I do apologize for the pictures, my daughter was trying her best to get both animals but they were not cooperating at all times. But it is pretty special to see a bobcat and a wolf together. Zaz wanted so bad to play with Raijen, but Raijen I don't think wanted to play as much as Zaz did. Raijen has known Zaz since he was 4 weeks old, and played with him then, but at this point I don't think it would be wise to put them together again. Zaz would not hurt Raijen, but I believe Raijen might strike out at Zaz.
As you can see Zaz is a big boy, he is approximately 120 pounds, and he is the sweetest animal, besides his female mate Zari that I have ever met. I decided to add these two pictures of Zaz drinking a coke from the can. Zaz was bottled fed from 7 days old by Wolfie...He is still a bottle baby.
On one of Raijens outings, Rob was washing his patrol car, and Raijen decided that he needed some help. Raijen is very helpful with water, and anything that you have and he decides he wants. Raijen loves to jump and walk on the cars that we have. I think he likes the higher vantage point of view. He really likes the patrol car with all the antennas. He loves to bat the antennas around and try and catch them before they stop. I do take Raijen out every night so that he gets to exercise a little more, than just running through the house.
I am really impresses with how gorgeous Raijen has turned out. He still has his moments of wildness, but he will always have that. He also has his moments of cuteness. Which we cherish with every moment. I hope you enjoy these pictures as much as we enjoy having Raijen in our lives.
This next picture of Raijen is on Wolfies truck. She had a cage built in the bed of her truck to transport her wolves. If you are interested in one of these contact me, and I will put you in touch with Wolfie. Raijen is still to small to stay inside this cage, but he loves to be on it, especially with the smell of the wolves.
Raijen likes to let everyone know that he is a BIG cat...so he spreads his muttonchops, and we kid him that he is in his 'GET BIG" mode. He really tried to get big with Zaz. Don't think he can get that big though.
Raijen is a wonderful animal, and I am so glad that he has allowed us to enjoy him so much. I would not trade any of my experiences with him for anything in the world. That is including his bad experiences and his good ones. I am still learning from him everyday. He presents new challenges for me as often as he can. My family and I are learning to adapt to each one of them. During the holidays he will be meeting new people. I hope it goes as well as it has in the past.
