Ninth Annual NBC Triple Challenge, Premium List

Entries close on Monday, Noon, April 19, 2004 or when the numerical limit has been reached after which time entries cannot be accepted, canceled, altered or substituted except as provided for in the rules and regulations stated on the enclosed entry form.

Reservations for lodging or meals at the Institute Farm must also be made in advance, and should be sent to (TBA) by no later than April 19, 2004, using the accompanying reservation forms. Please indicate lodging for Friday or Saturday night (or both), and which meals you will attend.

All owners or agents of entered hounds must sign in at the clubhouse between 6:30 & 7:30 AM, Saturday, May 1, 2004. Roll call of the hounds will begin promptly at 7:30 AM, and will he followed by a mandatory pre-measurement of all beagles. (Official AKC measurement cards will also be accepted as proof of size variety.)

NOTE: Any hounds not signed in by the 7:30 AM roll call will NOT be permitted to compete. NO EXCEPTIONS for any reason!

JOY DOG FOOD will feed the hounds at the 2004 NBC "Triple Challenge".




Entry fee of $35 per hound covers all three phases of competition at the NBC "Triple Challenge" event. Entries will be opened on March 1, 2004 and will close on April 19, 2004 or when the limit of thirty qualified hounds has been reached.

We will be accepting entries of thirty qualified hounds in order by postmark date, plus an additional ten qualified "stand-by hounds". Owners of those hounds placed on the "stand- by" list will be notified as to the status of their hound no later than the 26th of April. Owners are welcome to bring their "Stand-by hounds" to Aldie, as these hounds will be used to fill any vacancies left by absentees or last minute scratches. Entry fees for those "stand-by hounds" not needed to fill vacancies will be promptly refunded.

Lodging and meals will be available at Institute Farm by advance reservation only. A limited amount of on site lodging is available (on a first come, first served basis) for NBC members, exhibitors, and their agents. Spectators who are traveling with the owner or handler of an entered hound are also welcome, provided we still have sufficient rooms available. There are also hotels available in near-by Leesburg and Middleburg, VA.

Meals at the clubhouse also require advance reservations. Please use the included reservation forms for meals and lodging, and return to the address indicated, by April 19, 2004.

We will once again be treated to a night of fellowship and fun on Saturday evening, May 1, 2004, as the Holly Hill Beagle Pack hosts our annual cocktail party. Please be advised that semiformal to casual attire is acceptable. The party is typically accompanied by a raffle of all sorts of wonderful, beagle-related merchandise.




NOTICE TO EXHIBITORS


Telegraph, telephone and unsigned entries cannot be accepted. Entries not on an official "Triple Challenge" event entry form, an official AKC entry form, or photocopies of entry forms without the agreement and rules on the reverse side of the form are NOT ACCEPTABLE.

Should such acknowledgement not be received by the exhibitor within a reasonable time (by one week preceding the event), please notify Kris at brushyrn@epix.net

Make all checks for entries and lodging payable to the National Beagle Club of America. Please mail checks or money orders with your entry/reservations. No entry will he accepted which specifies any conditions as to its acceptance.

Entry fees shall not be refunded in the event that a dog is absent or disqualified excused by a veterinarian or judge, or barred from competition by action of the Event Committee.

The well being of hounds, exhibitors, and spectators is of paramount importance and in the event it is necessary to cancel or stop this event before completion (due to extreme weather conditions, civil disturbances, or other acts beyond the control of the NBC & Event Committee), no refund of entry fee will be made.

Post dated checks and returned checks do not constitute a valid entry fee.

Owners are responsible for errors in making out entry forms, whoever may make such errors, and no entry fee will be refunded in the event of such errors or cancellation of entries after published closing date.

Judges will not wait for any hound holding up a class. Owners or agents are responsible for the presence of their hound at the required location for evaluation when its class (or brace/trio) is called for judging. All dogs present must be held on leash or confined to their crates except when being judged or in an exercise pen. No bitches in heat may be brought onto the club grounds during this event.

Entries will not be accepted without signature, fees, and back on the entry form with agreement.

Best of Opposite Sex - red a white rosette
Best Bred-by-Exhibitor - green & white rosette
Third Place - yellow rosette
Fourth Place - white rosette
Fifth Place - pink rosette
Sixth Place - green rosette
Seventh Place - purple rosette
Eighth Place - brown rosette
Ninth Place - grey rosette
Tenth Place - light blue rosette

The rosettes for this year's event will be purchased through the generosity of friends of the NBC.


The following awards are offered through the generosity of the members and friends of the National Beagle Club: (1/21/02 - Awards will include, but are not necesarily limited to the following.)

First Place (Champion Hound) - The NBC Triple Challenge Perpetual Trophy, offered by "BETTER BEAGLING MAGAZINE" through the National Beagle Club of America: A large Pewterex Serving Platter, to be engraved each year with the name of the winning hound. The NBC will retain the trophy for display at Institute Farm.
* Large Pewterex plate featuring a paw print border, to be won outright by the Champion hound; offered by TBA.

Second Place (Reserve Champion Hound) - Large Pewterex plate featuring a paw print border; offered by TBA. .

Third Place - Small Pewterex plate featuring a paw print border; offered by TBA.

Best of Opposite Sex - Medium Pewterex plate featuring a paw print-border; offered by TBA. .

Best Bred-by-Exhibitor Hound - The Bob Felty Perpetual Trophy, a handsome figurine of a beagle retrieving a rabbit mounted on a solid cherry base, to be awarded annually to the Highest Scoring Bred-by-Exhibitor hound at the NBC Triple Challenge Event. The trophy is engraved each year with the names of the winning hound and its breeder/owner. This trophy to remain in the care of the National beagle Club, at Institute farm, Aldie, VA. Offered by the NBC through the generosity of Brushy Run Beagles and the late Mr. Robert Felty, and also Mr. Russel P. Wiles, Jr.
* Small Pewterex plate featuring a paw print border; offered by TBA.

Fourth through Tenth place - Small Pewterex plates featuring a paw print border. Fourth, Fifth and Sixth place; offered by TBA. Seventh thru Tenth place; offered by TBA.

High Scored 13" and 15" variety in each phase of competition
(field trial, stakes & show) - TBA

All hounds earning a qualifying score of not less than 200/300 points through competition in all three phases of the event will receive a green ribbon recognizing their achievement.




Reservation Form for Meals and Lodging at Institute Farm are provided online in a printable form; please go to the page for reservation forms, print out the one page form, and send along with your entries to the address provided.

Lodging will be available at Institute Farm, Aldie, VA for the evenings of Friday, April 30th and Saturday, May 1st, for NBC members, exhibitors, and their agents. Only those spectators who are traveling with the owner or handler of an entered hound (or those who are NBC Supporting members known to us) are welcome to stay overnight at Aldie. (For others, we recommend you explore the possibility of lodging in near-by Leesburg, VA, which is only minutes away.) When making reservations for lodging at Aldie, please indicate whether all guests listed wish to share a room/cabin, or if we need to make other arrangements. We can also try to arrange for you to share a room/cabin with friends or place you near each other if requested well in advance.

Catered meals will be available at the clubhouse, and include breakfast, lunch? (not yet determined) and dinner on Saturday, May 1st and a Continental breakfast & Brunch on Sunday, May 2nd. Advanced reservations are required to insure we can accommodate you. *** Please see reservation form for costs.

Checks for *MEALS ONLY* should be made payable to the person indicated on the reservation forms. 1
