THE TRIP
Who would think anyone would drive 6 hours round trip to pick up a puppy. Especielly one that's $250. Well, I did. Not only that, I made the trip the first time just to see her, knowing I'd have to wait ' til she was weaned to take her home.
When we arrived at the McDonald Farm [no pun intended] Sadie [the mother] recognized me immediately and started dancing at my feet. she let me pick her up and tried to smother me in kisses. the other dogs [TFTs all] were barking and the ones that were out shied away from me. Then I saw the crate full of pups. I found li'l Sammy by the mark on her shoulder. She was happy to see me. Or maybe just happy to be out of the crate.
After taking care of the paperwork, we left with our new bundle of joy. On the way back, Cindy [my wife] started falling in love with her too. Then came a time where we stopped for a bite and Sammy stayed in the carrier. When I took here out she started shivering and Cindy asked if she was cold. I just laughed and said "Welcome to the world of TFTs." Of course TFT owners know by now that TFTs shiver when they're excited.
HOME
We arrived home and let Sammy out. She seemed a li'l overwhelmed by the size of the place [bigger then her old house.] and strangely absent of other dogs. Later when she feel asleep and awoke, she didn't know where she was. After turning here, there, here, there, she figured it out and calmed down. then she decided to thank me for bringing her home [lick, lick, shiver, shiver]. Now we have a new addition to the family. She's stealing hearts even though we know there will be rough times, potty problems, vet visits, etc. We know that's part of the deal.
