Hello! My name is Mason and I am a big, handsome nine-year-old Iggy. When I was seven, my first family turned me in to Rescue -- I can't imagine why, because I am an incredibly loving dog! I was lucky enough to be fostered by Lee Ann and Bill in New York City, and they worked with Angela in Pittsburgh to find my new home.
When my new family first started looking at rescue Iggies, they were looking at younger dogs. But then Lee Ann asked Angela if the new family would consider an older dog who acted young. My new family said sure, they would consider an older dog. They talked to Lee Ann over and over to find out everything about me -- the good and the not-so-good. But everyone agreed that I would be a perfect match as a first dog for the family.
So, after several months in New York, I said a sad goodbye to Lee Ann and Bill and drove all the way to Pittsburgh to meet my new family -- a mom, dad, brother and sister. They had never even seen me, and were so excited and happy to meet me -- it was love at first sight!
Because my new family had been diligent and done their homework, they knew a lot about Italian Greyhounds and a lot about me. That was very important because they were able to help me through all of my initial problems, like separation anxiety when I was left alone, and being both afraid and aggressive with other dogs when I went for a walk. My new family took some lessons from a canine behavior consultant, and in no time, my problems were much better. It's been a year and a half now, and we all consider ourselves super lucky to be together! My family loves my never-ending hugs and kisses, and I really have it made. My mom and dad both have home offices, so I'm with my people all day long. The kids shower me with affection and play games with me. I have a great neighborhood to walk in with lots of other dogs around, including another Iggy! And when it's too cold to walk very far, I have a fenced-in yard, which is also perfect for indulging in every IG's favorite activity, sunning myself on warm days. My family lets me sit with them, and on them, all the time. And at night, I snuggle up in bed with my mom and dad. When my family travels, they even have a friend come over to sleep with me at my own house. This is the life! Best of all, I am completely loved and know that I am home forever. Thank you, Lee Ann, Bill and Angela, for helping me and my forever family find one another! |
