O'Malley

My name is O'Malley; pleased to meet you! Did you ever see the old Bing Crosby movie called Going My Way, where he plays a character named Father O'Malley? Well, my mom named me after that movie and character because everything worked out for me to be "going her way" on St. Patrick's Day weekend 2003!

I was found roaming the streets of Kansas in March 2003. Thank goodness that a very kind lady found me and took me in. She placed ads in the local papers to try to find my person, but if you can believe it, nobody responded to claim a boy as handsome as me. Since I appeared to be homeless, my rescuer named me Hobo and contacted IG Rescue about taking me in.

Just about that time, my forever mom-to-be was contacting Angela to ask about adopting another IG Rescue dog to join her other two boys, Figaro and Tucker. Tucker was adopted through IG Rescue a couple of years ago; mom flew all the way to North Carolina to bring him home! Figaro is a big boy and Tucker is a smaller IG, so my mom was interested in an IG of any size.

omalley2.jpg (26971 bytes) I happened to be a very tall boy who just needed to gain a couple of pounds to fill out, with a great personality and a need for all the love my new home had to offer. When Angela told the other Rescue representatives about my new mom, Rebecca Prideaux from Kansas IG Rescue told her all about me. Sure, Kansas is a little far from Pittsburgh, but we thought we had my transport all figured out. Unfortunately, things didn't work out quite the way we planned, but Angela, Rebecca and my new mom really wanted to get me to Pittsburgh somehow! So, Angela and Rebecca decided to meet up, and I got to go on a weekend vacation to St. Louis! Mom went off to Petco to buy some welcome home supplies and treats for me and my new brothers, and I arrived at my new home back in Pittsburgh in the wee hours of... you guessed it... St. Patrick's Day!

Within just a few hours, I had made myself right at home and fit in with my two brothers like I had always been part of the family. I feel so lucky to be in my forever home at last... I know that I will never be a "Hobo" again!
