THE BAD NEWS:
Countless unnecessary, ineffective, torturous medical tests are still performed on innocent animals.THE GOOD NEWS: On Friday, April 14, Congressmen Ken Calvert (R-CA) and Tom Lantos (D-CA) introduced H.R. 4281, the Interagency Coordinating Committee on the Validation of Alternative Methods (ICCVAM) Authorization Act. This bill will permanently establish ICCVAM and require federal agencies to consider ICCVAM's recommendations on new test methods and alternatives to animal tests unless they can prove that the animal test is superior. This is the House companion bill to the Senate ICCVAM bill, S.1495, which was introduced by Senator Mike DeWine (R-OH).

As a concerned citizen and animal lover, I urge you to co-sponsor Senate Bill 1495, which was introduced by Senator DeWine. This bill will greatly reduce the atrocious number of innocent animals who are subjected to horrific medical testing each year. Alternatives to animal testing abound, and it is about time that we stop relying on the ineffective, selfish, greedy conveniences of yesteryear and instead adopt thoughtful, humane options. There is simply no justification for murdering millions of beautiful creatures in the name of "science". Please honor your conscience and make your constituents proud by supporting and sponsoring this bill. Thank you for your consideration of this important matter.
